Multiple explosions rock London

Post by Tach Deneva »

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Near simultaneous explosions rocked the London Underground network and at least one bus at the morning rush hour, police said, causing fatalities and prompting officials to shut down the entire underground transport network.

And the really scary aspect of all this is that this horrible act may not have neccessarily been committed by Al Qaeda. ALL possible venues must be investigated.

I found this quote from Tony Blair especially poignant:

It is particularly barbaric this has happened on a day when people are meeting to try to help the problems of poverty in Africa

When will people at large realize that these extremists like Al Qaeda couldn't CARE LESS about whether or not we are trying to help poverty in Africa. That is not their agenda. We need to realize that these extremists cannot be compromised with and cannot be bargained with.

The French are peaceful people Steel. Don’t know why you came up with that assumption. I know their unhappy about the European Union but -- hey , their not the terrorist type.

If you ask me , I’d be investigating certain Arabians counties. Take your pick. Most of them have terrorist living in each one because certain individuals of their population are either affiliated with terrorist , -- or are born and bead for warfare which lead to a destructive life and terrorism .

I’m not at all sure why their religion would value blowing up several other people in order to be granted a higher praise by ALA . That’s just plain hogwash. These people that do that are sick in the head. It’s going to take time to weed them out and teach other citizens of their culture to lead a more progressive life.

Meanwhile , I’m deeply sorry for what happened in the UK . Are counties are still standing shoulder to shoulder , and with that kind of team effort we will have peace on earth someday.

some folks have no sense of irony or sarcasm at all... yes, the french are quite peaceful, excluding the multiple attempts at world domination...just like other nations that are around them. but perhaps they have had their noses bloodied a few too many times and that is why they now have foriegners fighting their battles.

if you want to know more about Muslims and Islam, use google. There is a lot of information out there, as well as some books put together to help American's understand more about it.

This is not just folks from "certain Arabians counties". Wake up. Islam is one of the largest religions in the world and rated the fastest growing. It is world wide. As a matter of fact, the terrorists that flew into the WTC towers were living right here in the US. Another fact - just because someone is a Muslim does not make them a terrorist. Just because a country is predominantly Muslim does not mean it should be looked at as the root cause first. Terrorist organizations are world wide! I wish folks would realize the yahoo's originating in the US are just as bad as any other terrorist. Look at US history - the real history - and then see what the power base (yes, caucasians) here in the US has done to others. This not even in the name of religion or beliefs or anything that could be considered noble or worthwhile - just greed and money. Now I am not also saying that terrorists are noble or their motivation makes their actions worthwhile. Do NOT go down that street with me.

One thing I can not tolerate is lack of tolerance for other people due to race or beliefs such as religion. That is absolute hogwash... ;)

You make some really good points Steel. In fact, some of the countries that are suspected of STATE sponsored terrorism aren't even Muslim countries at all. (ie Cuba, North Korea)

Well Steel, you have a point but until I see massive amounts of muslims jumping up and down screaming aout how their religion is being highjacked by thugs and murders.....then I will retain my sceptisim. A great majority of the active hot spots on the planet involve "radical" muslim groups trying to force their views of how the world should be on others by force of arms.

When you had muslims dancing in the streets and collecting trading cards of the towers in flames and the faces of the hijackers......when they remain silent and dont get pissed and do something about some cleric demanding they engage in Jihad.....when they passively accept what is dont in the name of their religon....

You think the christen world would sit idelly by while (for instance....) a radical splinter group of Methodist pulled the same sort of crap that happened in London.....would you not expect the Methodist world to come unglued and jump in front of anything with a microphone or camera and right then and there draw the line between thenselves and murders?...so far I have yet to see any real, forthright statements, demonstrations, outright horror from the "muslim street". All I hear is the same crap about tollerance and we are peaseful....blah....blah....mixed in with some statement about palistine (which is populated by people ejected from the rest of the muslim world through out history...funny how now they are concerned about them being as they are not in their popluations) and a few blasts aimed at Isreal.

"radical" - that is the operative word.

what u.s. christians were jumping up and down in the streets as the KKK murdered innocent blacks?

what u.s. christians were jumping up and down in the streets when tens of thousands of Native Americans were driven from their ancestrial homes and/or murdered?

genocide anyone?

what german christians were jumping up and down in the streets as millions of jews were herded up and murdered by the millions?

what russian christians were jumping up and down in the streets as hundreds of thousands of jews were lined up, shot to death, and buried in mass graves?

genocide anyone?

the lists go on and on... until you know and understand the effects of mass peer pressure, the tenets of the religion and the beliefs that rules some folks lives, the mass effetcs of charismatic leadership, the ease of just not doing anything because of threat of death for you and your family, etc. one has no real basis upon which to place unwarranted prejudice (except learned prejudice through your own upbringing - but we are all adults now and should be able to think for ourselves, eh?). stereotyping is the basis of prejudice. do you think the news shows the good stuff? do you think the film clips you see are representative of the entire population of a country? or rather a small radical portion? remember that most present day "journalism" is about sensationalism. you all fool yourselves if you think otherwise. just think about what i write and take a deep thought or two about it. go beneath the surface...

I want EVERYONE to remember that we are discussing. no personal attacks will be tolerated. everyone is welcome to their own opinion. keep this civil. being able to discuss things in a mature manner is what both groups, ELH and WOF, have had going for them for a very long time.

Absolutely agree. As it is now, I cant stand to watch any of the mainstream TV news networks. It's just an orgy for ratings and these so-called journalists only talk about stories and issues that will drive up ratings. As for the point you made on mass peer pressure, I also agree. For example, people always bring up the famous question "how can such an educated and cultured people like the Germans allow something like the Holocaust to occur?". The phenomena of mass peer pressure combined with a charismatic leader provides all the explanation you need

Steel, wasnt wanting to get in a flame war.....sorry if you took it that way.

Starts to sound more like a cult than religion. Prolly a good thing I'm not in charge, otherwise there would be a lot of smoking, glass encrusted, holes in the gound....unsafe to visit for the next 200,000,000 years.....but I've been known for a short fuse

And I dont think that the blame America 1st crowd, and the laundry list of past deeds is relevent to this current problem. It is not about the native americans, nor about the civil rights for all americans reguardless of race, color or creed......it's about western civilization and their hatred for it and everything it stands for. America and to some extent it's allies are the sybol on the hill that the Jihadists need to knock down and destroy in order to bring the world back to their utiopa of the 5th century AD. They are still are fighting the crusades 1400 years later, and they hate us for it.

Just my opinion.....your mileage may vary

no, i did not see it as a flame war. i am just being pre-emptive to prevent it - and that is not directed at anyone in particular, rather everyone in general.

now, blame america 1st - no way, not right. that is bs from anyone that utters it. every nation and people have their dark spots. none are excepted.

past history has nothing to do with current, you are correct. i was not trying to say that. my point is that this type of thing has happened throughout history in one form or another. christians are not exempt. so my point was don't even begin by mentioning christians and implying holier-than-thou. that is not for sale here, at least i will not be buying! :)

cult, religion - same thing to a lot of folks. for the cultist portions of religious factions - see the "radicals" you mentioned. and note they are a few, only a minor portion of any organization. just as extremists are a minor portion of any organization - they just happen to behave in ways that carry a lot of weight and call a lot of attention - leading to stereotypes, which leads to prejudice, which leads to conflict.

"it's about western civilization and their hatred for it and everything it stands for" - who is they? i hate "they"... :) it is the radicals, not all Muslims. THAT is the point i am trying to make and get folks to accept. THAT is the way it is, most Muslims are just as horrified by these actions as anyone else in the world. you/we/i just don't see that part - just the sensational demonstrations that our "journalists" decide to show us from around the world...

Sorry I brought it up . I wasn’t my intention to imply that most or all Muslims are terrorist. What I said was certain members of their race are. And that there are certain people who are born and raised to believe that hurting or killing other people out side their religion is just.

Or there’s other the other people who have been influenced to become part of the terrorist team. In my opinion these people make up the majority of the terrorist group. Which ever terrorist group that may be regardless of race or religion.

In Jerusalem a teenage girl was either persuaded or raised to think it was okay to blow her self up in Israel taking as many people with her as she could.

I don’t agree with it. I think these people can hurt this world and keep it terrorized as long as we let them. Something must be done to hunt them down. I say hunt them down because there’s no getting through to them. They have their minds made up , and the negotiating is over. I’m not saying kill them either. They are sick people to believe that blowing up other people is okay. We need to find them , break up their terrorist outfit and salvage what humanity they have left.

As a reminder I’m just talking about terrorist groups and I don’t put the blame on their entire race or religion for their faults.

However , I’m not going to BS you. I guess I did mean it when I suggested , - or rather pointed a finger at the Arabians countries for most likely being at blame in the latest bombing. I’m not pointing a finger at all of them. I have a good idea which countries harbor terrorist. No I’m not in central intelligence nor am I pretending to know every thing. I’m sure I left out allot of facts due to my ignorance , but I’m just posting my opinion like we all are.

Oh yeah , I know you didn’t mean it that way . And I wasn’t mad about it or anything , and even though I thought about it myself ,-- throwing humor into a topic like this is a delicate thing. I probably shouldn’t have said anything

The death toll is approaching 50 now but no official figures can be given due to the ongoing work trying to sort the wreckage in the rail tunnel.

Thankfully, all the London based 151 and their families escaped these bombings.

Currently, "the who did it" is open to speculation.

Falkers statement

"The French are peaceful people Steel. Don’t know why you came up with that assumption. I know their unhappy about the European Union but -- hey , their not the terrorist type."

had me chuckling into my cornflakes. Bless the old hippy. Look up "Action Directe" just for starters

Wiz, Beowulf, Ronin and I all live in the 'burbs just east of London itself.

Interesting take on the security situation here now is the "stop & search" of vehicles with heavy tint windows. Limos are a prime target. There has been a persistent rumour that limos could be used to carry out a ground version of a 9/11 style attack.
